Most of the world has been expose to the game sensation of PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds or simply PUBG, if you haven’t you either don’t game or you live under a rock. Hosted on multiple platforms: XBOX1, PS4, PC, and Mobile, PUBG has become one of the biggest crazes of 2018, so far, If for you have not become a zombie over this battleground sensation there is a malware out that insist you catch the virus.
Simply called “PUBG Ransomware”, but unlike the normal Ransomware, it is not demanding your money, just your time (an hour to be exact). This malware encrypts your data and insist that you play PUBG for an hour, but if you have no desire to do so you can just type in the code (s2acxx56a2sae5fjh5k2gb5s2e) to remove the ransomware and return your desktop to its original glory, but that’s no fun! Why not go through the workaround and get some key time in.
The way the Ransomware works is by constantly scanning your computers running processes, looking for “TslGame”, this is a process associated with the Ransomware, as soon as it recognizes this process as running for 3sec all of your users files will be decrypted, I know definitely not an hour but hey whose counting.
So they way to do this the complex but no so complex way:
- Open up your CMD prompt
- Type Run “TslGame.exe”
- Press enter
- This start the process
- Then type: Taskkill /IM TslGame.exe /F
- this is to completely kill process if it doesn’t do it on its own
This Ransomware more of a prank than anything, but I still recommend to kill the process and restore your computer to a previous back up, just to be on the safe side. You never know this could be an attacker trying out his or her skills at creating a Ransomware and seeing how gullible people are. But if you really want to play PUBG just download a legit copy and game away your life, me personally I prefer Fortnite but PUBG is a close 2nd.
